Visa Procedures/ Fees
- • Most foreign nationals can obtain a visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and at major land border crossings with India and China.
- • Travelers must have a valid passport with a minimum of six months validity from the date of entry into Nepal.
- • Before arrival, tourists are advised to complete the online visa application form on the Department of Immigration website and print the confirmation; alternatively, the form can be filled at the entry point.
- • Upon arrival, travelers must fill out the arrival/departure card and present it along with their passport and visa payment receipt at the immigration counter.
- • Tourist visa fees are based on duration: 15 days multiple-entry visa costs USD 30, 30 days multiple-entry visa costs USD 50, and 90 days multiple-entry visa costs USD 125. Fees are payable in cash (USD, Euros, INR) or major credit cards at designated entry points.
- • Tourist visas can be extended after arrival in Kathmandu or Pokhara; extensions are typically granted in 15-day increments at a base fee of approximately USD 45 plus USD 3 per day for additional days beyond the extension period.
- • Overstaying the visa validity without extension incurs a fine of USD 5 per day, payable at the immigration office upon leaving Nepal.
- • Diplomatic and official passport holders of certain countries are exempt from visa fees and may be granted entry without a visa for a period of 30 days, depending on bilateral agreements.
- • Children under the age of 10 are generally exempt from paying visa fees but must still have a valid passport and the arrival/departure form completed.
- • Other visa categories, such as business, work, student, spouse, or foreigner of Nepali origin, require additional documentation, and the visa fees differ based on the category and duration of stay, as specified by the Department of Immigration.
